What is a QR code?

A visual shortcut between the physical and digital world — just point your camera.

A QR code (Quick Response) is a two-dimensional barcode that can store far more information than a traditional barcode. Instead of lines, it uses a grid of black and white squares that any modern smartphone camera reads instantly — no extra app needed.

It can hold a website link, your WiFi password, a full contact, a pre-filled email or just text. The QR codes generated here are static: the information is encoded in the image itself, so they never expire and work forever, even offline.

Frequently asked questions

The essentials before generating your first code.

Is QRkit really free?+

Yes, completely. No login, account, watermark or limit on how many QR codes you can generate and export.

Is my data sent to any server?+

No. All generation happens inside your browser, in JavaScript. What you type never leaves your device — not the link, not the WiFi password, not the contact.

Do QR codes expire?+

Never. They are static codes: the information lives in the image itself. Print them today and they will work 10 years from now.

Which format should I export?+

Use PNG or JPG for screen and social media, and SVG or PDF for print — they are vector and stay sharp at any size.

Can I add my logo?+

Yes. Under "Customize" you upload an image that appears in the center. We recommend raising error correction to High (Q) or Max (H) so the code stays readable.
